The Holden Rural Academy is a public charter school, operating on a 4 day school week. We seek to meet the unique needs of rural students: education that validates their rural experiences, collaborates with local businesses and organizations, and is accessible to every student. Our first-year attendance is 65 students in grades 7 – 12, expected growth is 100 students by year 3.
About the School: Our philosophy of Place-Based Education capitalizes on local community places and resources to provide an effective context for learning. We provide our students with an educational environment that employs cooperative strategies to integrate the school and community, and to extend the school curriculum beyond the school.
Location: Holden, Alberta, a village southeast of Edmonton, Alberta
